Nowadays in Ukraine there are plenty works of art, those on which you can look and those which you can think over. Never had we such stylistic variety and such an explosion of sensible manifestations in graphic art, as during the first ten years of Ukrainian independence. In time when fastidious
and competitive net of galleries all around the world is selecting the most talented and interesting artists, we at last admit the existence and achievements of the artists that withstood in this soulless and merciless world of business. Thanks to in-depth progress that includes great efforts of artists and galleries owners, new thrilling talent comes finally into the field of vision.
Today in the list of modern Ukrainian artists Sergiy Hai – is the one you are to reckon with. In his forty years he has behind artistic education, received in Lviv Academy of Arts and striking history of exhibitions. Origin
of his creative work you can find in traditions of modern painting of the sitter. And when we look at the Hai's paintings, the whole galaxy of the prominent artists of the 20th century, such as Matis, Schiele, Nolde, Modigliani, de Kooning and others arises before our eyes. Hai's paintings could be reduced to sensibly curved lines and clear expressionist gestures in the context of beautiful color balance, even in most melancholic end of spectrum. The size of most of his canvases – three forth of represented reality.
The pictures radiate strong emotions and spontaneity, which the artist reproduce through clear touches of paint, scratches and also interflow of colors and forms.
In modern Ukraine there is not huge but quickly growing quantity of faithful collectors of art works. Foreign businessman and diplomats, that know more about the art, buy masterpieces of modern Ukrainian art, and even several pieces at a time. New generation of businessmen hire architects
and designers to create elegant modern urbanistic buildings in Kiyiv, Lviv and Odessa. The masterpieces of Sergiy Hai take their honorable place among new generation of Ukrainian collectors of art works.
When Western Europe, Great Britain and USA saw the works of Sergiy Hai, he was recognized as artist. The world is observing him, enjoying him and will collect his works during long time.

Кто видел – поймет, кто не видел – поверьте. Сан-Франциско – западная столица США. Самый красивый город в мире. Создан этот пласт культуры многонациональной армией иммигрантов со всего мира. Об одном из них сегодня разговор. Загляним в вечно открытое окно, выходящее на калифорнийский залив, тут живет один из представителей современного имиджа калифорнийского искусства. Художник Сергей Константинов провел детские годы в маленьком городке Жмеринка. Эти годы запомнились весело-радужной палитрой существования и памятниками истории, которая была и есть на каждом шагу. Редкие поездки в столицу были светлыми и желанными.  Лавра, София, музеи и особенно запомнилась выставка Фаюмских портретов, которые вышли из рук реставраторов и были выставлены на обозрение. Все это создали люди! Чудеса! Я хочу творить чудеса. – говорит ребенок папе.
Через много лет  на берегу Тихого Океана Сергей вспомнит весь путь от восторженного хлопчика до известного, уважаемого деятеля искусства мирового класса.
Папа услышал ребенка, мальчик поступает и успешно заканчивает Вижницкое прикладное училище, отделение худож. обработки дерева. Этой базы знаний достаточно, чтобы поступить во Львовскую Академию искусств, где изучает керамическое дело. В те далекие времена Львов был крупным культурным центром. Особенно процветали деполитизированные прикладные виды искусств, такие как кузнечное, худ.  стекло, керамика, резьба. В институтские годы на Сергея оказывает влияние выдающийся львовявин Борис Возницкий, он создал музей искусств, восстановил Олесский замок. Потрясающая работоспособность и виденье цели великого человека вызывает искреннее уважение. Молодой человек понимает, что наследие нужно не только любить, но и беречь. Этот путь Сергей выберет как основополагающий, но это будет потом.
А сейчас распределение в жаркий по-своему обворожительный, но незнакомый Азербайжан. Художественный фонд редко встречает новичков с распростертыми объятиями, но все как-то улаживается, и семья увеличивается.
Рутинные заказы, никакие выставки удручают молодых эксцентричных художников. Решение не простое – семья переезжает в Сан-Франциско. Страшно. Все новое, другое и конечно язык. Но тот неописуемый восторг, с которым Сергей работает в это время становится в последствие визитной карточкой. Работа реставратора становится основой его существования За 20 лет восстановленно потрясающее количество произведений искусства. Студия Сергея Константинова становится одной из ведущих в Северной Калифорнии.
Сергей ни на минуту не оставляет живопись за многие годы. Стиль, объект его искусства меняется от предметного до беспредметных цветовых композиций щенячьего восторга. Не буду докучать перечнем галерей и музеев, в которых находятся работы художника. Просто хочу его представить. Взгляд в будущее – Сергей Константинов. Попробуйте полюбить.
